Together
She stood there, watching his silently departing frame, with uncontrollable tears flowing from her beautiful azure eyes. The same pair of eyes which he had once said doesn't deserve tears of sadness. But here she was, there he was, in this situation that would make a tough man cry...
She knew he had done this for the best, knew that this seperation was the only logical path to take. She knew that both their families was in debt, knew that being together would cause their financial burden to increase.
She knew it 5 years ago...
But still, she had stayed with him, giving him his mental support, when everything seemed lost. To her, it doesn't matter if he can't give her the best clothes, the best food, the best of everything. To her, these doesn't matter.
What matters is his smile, him being with her, together, through thick and thin..
Now the situation had worsened; savings were thinned; and he had to go overseas to work off the debts. He told her none of these, not wanting to burden her with these overwhelming problems. Though he never said it out, she could tell it from his eyes; his once sparkling hazel eyes are now dull and tired.
The breakup not unexpected; the stress from the financial burden had strained their relationship, many disagreements had risen because of that. But their love and affection for each other was stronger, and they stuck close, and pulled through.
But now...
As she stood there, stunned, shocked, watching the man whom she'd stuck with all these years slowly walked away, she realised that this decision was for the best for both of them. It IS for the best.
A sudden downpour ensued, soaking the two seperating lovebirds to the skin. Oh, how she'd wish the rain could take away the sorrow! Her tears mixed with the rain, so noone could see how much she'd cried, and still crying.
Looking up to the pouring sky, she wondered what she should do. Let this be? Yes, its the only logical choice. They will have a better future apart. She could find some rich guy, get married, and the financial burden would be gone; he could do the same too.
Without thinking... she called out his name. He stopped in his tracks; but with no courage to turn back to face the woman he'd love so much.
With her eyes closed, and filled with determination, she said:
"Wait. please... wait. It's not like you."
"Look into my eyes, lets talk about the future."
"Our future may seem bleak, but together, we can make it."
"I will follow you. No matter how agonizing the world is."
"We have been together for so long. Let's not give up now."
"Together. Let's..stay together... okay?"
With that, she opened her eyes. He had turned around, now facing her, looking at her with that eyes of his. She could see that he'd been crying all this while; the decision didn't come easy to him either.
Then, with much love and gratitude for her understanding, he said the words she badly wanted to hear coming out from him.
"Yes. Together"
With that, all the emotions he had bottled up broke loose, and he ran towards her, to hug her, to comfort her, to ask for her forgiveness...
The wet floor wasn't that forgiving though, and he slipped and fell on the cold hard floor. As he picked himself up, he found her kneeling in front of him, looking at him lovingly, caringly. He grabbed her, and hugged her tight, not wanting to let go, not wanting this woman who's willing to give up everything just to be with him go.
Togther they stayed there, hugging and sobbing.
The rain stopped. The sun appeared through the dark clouds. To them, it is a sign, a sign of hope. They picked each other up, and, hand in hand, walked towards the sun, determined to stay together forever.
